This Privacy Policy describes how Storm Scout (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you understand that we will collect and use information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

Account information: such as your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and organization/workspace identifiers.
User content: photos, videos, notes, forms, and any text or metadata you submit through the Service.
Support communications: information you provide when contacting support.

1.2 Information collected from your device and app usage

Location data: precise and/or approximate location, including background location if you grant permission and tracking is active, to support shift and route tracking features you control.
Device and app data: device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and app settings.
Usage and diagnostic data: interaction events, performance metrics, and crash or error information to maintain and improve the Service.
Authentication and security data: login timestamps, session events, and security-related logs.

1.3 Microphone and speech-to-text

If you use voice input features, the Service may request microphone access. Audio may be processed to convert speech to text. We use speech-to-text to provide user-initiated voice input. We do not require voice input to use the Service.

1.4 Photos and media

If you choose to capture or upload photos or videos, we will access the camera and/or media library as you direct. The Service may store uploaded media and associated metadata (such as timestamps and, if enabled, location tags).

1.5 Biometric authentication

If you enable biometric authentication (such as Face ID or Touch ID), the Service uses device-based authentication provided by your operating system. We do not collect or store your biometric template. We may receive an authentication success or failure result.

2. How We Use Information

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including authentication, shift tracking, uploads, and in-app disclosures.
Process and display your User Content to you and, where applicable, to your organization/workspace.
Communicate with you about the Service, including support messages and important notices.
Monitor, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and prohibited activities.
Improve the Service, including debugging, analytics, and performance optimization.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

Service providers: with vendors who process information on our behalf to provide the Service (for example, hosting, storage, authentication, support tooling).
Organization/workspace: if you use the Service through an organization or workspace, authorized administrators may access certain account information and activity consistent with workspace settings and your role.
Legal and safety: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, and prevent fraud or abuse.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

We do not sell personal information.

4. Location and Tracking Choices

In-app controls: you can start and stop shift/route tracking using in-app controls.
Device permissions: you can grant, deny, or revoke location permissions in your device settings. If you deny or limit location permissions, some features may not function.
Background location: if you allow background location, the Service may collect location while tracking is active in the background. You can change this in device settings.

5. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes, such as maintaining security, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods can vary based on data type, workspace settings, and legal requirements.

6. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Requests

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. 8. Account Deletion

You can delete your account within the app (if available) or by contacting support. After deletion, you may lose access to the Service and your account data. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate purposes such as security and fraud prevention.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International Transfers

If you access the Service from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries. Those countries may have data protection laws different from your jurisdiction.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may include links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
